What a busy month August has been!
This month has been extremely busy with many of the golf events originally scheduled for July being rescheduled into August. The United Way began the month with well over 500 rounds taking place within a 48 hour period. Shortly after that, we held our Gentlemen's Invitational on August 11th and 12th. Anniversary week, another 800 plus rounds, and the University of Findlay outing took place during the middle of the month as many new guests were able to enjoy our facilities. Rounding out the month included our Women's Member-Guest Invitational, Fresh Encounter, Senior Club Championship, and Chamber events. While all of these events are very important to us, we have seen an increase in wear and tear on the golf course because of the short period of time in which these events took place. We have spent significant time cleaning up divots from the driving range. Here is Michael raking up the debris that was blown off the range tees. These divots are filled with sand and seed multiple times per week. Fertilizer will be applied again to the tees to promote germination and help fill in these areas a little quicker.
Eric, seen here on #12, is training one of our new employees on the proper way to fill in the divots on our tee boxes
An increase of square footage on our tees boxes will need to be addressed here in the not so distant future. This will allow for more locations to set our tee markers and help to dilute the concentration of wear.
The rough of #9 has filled in nicely and the rope and stakes that have been in use were finally removed.
This past week we have taken inventory on our white fence that outlines a few holes. We will be placing an order to replace the posts and rails that are broken, such as this one.
Our flags have been washed and are looking brighter.
With September right around the corner, we will be welcoming many high school and collegiate golfers to our course. We want to wish all the teams good luck this fall.
My youngest daughter has also started pre-school and is loving every day! We hope to see you all on the course soon because fall is a great time of year to play golf. This past week, with temperatures in the 75-80 degree range and lower humidity, the greens have firmed up and have good speed to them, too.

Many of the areas that were over-seeded following the flood have filled in and are open for play, but we did over-seed again last week in a few select locations to continue to promote turf density.

Wayne has been hard at work keeping our irrigation system functioning properly. His work often goes unnoticed, but we do appreciate the time he puts in.
