Heavy rain over the past two weeks has caused the Blanchard River to swell over its banks and onto our course.  Flooding has occurred many times over the past 100 years, the most recent flood ranks #5 all-time for Findlay. Here is a view of #8 fairway  #18 fairway  #1 fairway  A view from #8 tee  #8 green from #9 tee  The torrential rain washed out rocks from our gulley Pushed up debris into our bridges  under the bridges  and on top of the bridges The water came up so high that we had to pull our pump motors to higher ground to save them from being damaged.  Evan and Sammie were a big help in this process. The waters rose and eventually completely covered #18 green with over 3' of water for several days. After receding, we were left with a thick layer of silt that had to be removed immediately to prevent turf loss. The silt was removed by washing it off by hand.  After 90 minutes of wash...

July 2017

I hope everyone enjoyed the wonderful 4th of July festivities here at FCC!  Once the rain ceased, we were left with a beautiful evening to celebrate with family and fireworks.   The show was great and it was amazing to see what happens behind the scenes! We are continuing to focus on the little things that make our course great.  Tree maintenance is ongoing and Eric is doing a great job of keeping the willows trimmed up.  This allows us to mow underneath them without damaging our mowers.  It also allows golfers a great opportunity for a clear shot if their golf ball ends up underneath one. Here is a nice before and after shot. We are also sowing seed underneath our trees as well.  Here is a shot of one of our trees on #16. Unfortunately, mother nature sometimes does a little tree work as well. Within the last two weeks we have received nearly 5.5" of rain and the river has been rising. The heavy ...

There are a lot more improvements being made here at Findlay Country Club!  The overgrown flower bed next to #1 tee has been cleaned out, tilled up, and sod has been laid over a majority of the soil.  This should be completed by the end of the week.  Our new tractor was ideal for this project and operated flawlessly. Our irrigation system also saw an upgrade with the addition of a new jockey pump.  The one being replaced has been in operation since 1995.  A portable winch was used to lift out the old pump and lower the new one down into position.   A new addition to the cart path next to #2 tee along with the repaving of old cart paths from  #1 green through #3 tee will allow for a much smoother ride and gives us a nice, clean look.  The turf that was removed for the addition next to #2 tee was used to sod a majority of the flower bed next to #1 tee. Evan, Sam, and Nate were working hard and did a fantastic job!  ...
